How do I choose the right FAANG interview mentor?

The loops at these companies are more similar to each other than the internet suggests, with one real exception: Amazon weights behavioural rounds far more heavily than the others. Preparing generically for "FAANG" and then walking into that unprepared is a common and avoidable failure.

What should I bring to a FAANG interview mentor session?

What actually distinguishes candidates who pass is not knowing more algorithms. It is calibration — recognising which of several correct approaches the interviewer is steering toward, and communicating while you work rather than after. Both only improve against a person.

Ask your mentor what the bar looked like at the level you are targeting. "Senior" means materially different things at each of these companies, and being mis-levelled is more common than being rejected.
