How do I choose the right Google mentor?
The public preparation material for Google is enormous and almost entirely about algorithm questions. The thing it cannot give you is calibration: what a strong answer sounds like at the level you are targeting, versus one that merely arrives at the right result. That is the single most valuable thing to spend a session on.
What should I bring to a Google mentor session?
If you are interviewing, bring a problem you did not solve cleanly rather than one you rehearsed. If you are already inside, bring the specific feedback you were given at your last review — levelling conversations turn on scope and impact, and a mentor who has been in those rooms can tell you which of the two you are actually missing.
Ask about the parts that are hard to research: how teams get chosen after an offer, what internal mobility really looks like, and how long a promotion case genuinely takes to build.
